Barelang Police Examine 11 Witnesses From BP Batam Related To Land Cases

BATAM - Investigators of the Special Crime Unit (Tipidter) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police, Riau Islands, examined 11 witnesses from the Batam Concession Agency (BP) regarding the investigation into the case of allocation and niruk of protected forest areas to private companies.

"Until now, we have examined the Batam BP as many as 11 people, one of whom is the Director of Land Pak Ilham," said Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police AKP Giadi Nugraha in Batam as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 27.

Since Monday (26/8) until today, investigators have scheduled an examination of a number of BP Batam staff who were summoned as witnesses. One of the witnesses summoned was Batam Director of Defense Management Ilham Eka Hartawan.

According to Giadi, the 11 BP Batam staff who were examined were still witnesses, and the case was still under investigation.

Regarding whether there are other witnesses to be examined, Giadi said that they are still in the process of being investigated.

"We are still investigating it. After this (examination), we will discuss it with investigators and submit it further," he said.

The examination of the witness BP Batam was carried out after the previous Wednesday (21/8), the Investigator of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Barelang Police to search the asrip room at the BP Batam Office in order to find the evidence needed for the investigation process of the case in question.

From the search, investigators brought a number of documents confiscated from the BP Batam archive room. Investigators claim to have obtained the documents sought regarding the investigation that is being carried out.

This case is related to the allocation and excavation of uruk in the protected forest area to PT Karlina Cahaya Loka.
