TERNATE - The death toll from the flash flood that hit Rua Village, in the city of Ternate, North Maluku continues to grow. The head of the Ternate Basarnas, Fathur Rahman, said that the number of dead victims who had just been found in the afternoon was 2 people who were husband and wife, namely Hasim (58) and Hadijah Utuh (50).

The joint SAR team found the two buried in the mud in their house. The two victims did not have time to save themselves when the flash flood disaster occurred on Sunday, August 25 at 04.00 WIT.

"We found the two victims at 18.40 and 19.21 WIT. After the autopsy, it was discovered that one woman and one man were husband and wife. They were found after we closed the operation to continue the search tomorrow," said Fathur.

Fathur also said that the SAR team had difficulty carrying out the evacuation process for the husband and wife.

"The victim's position was found buried in material, making it difficult for the team to carry out the evacuation process, both of which were buried in the house," he said.

He conveyed that with the discovery of the victim's husband and wife, the number of victims who died in the flash flood disaster had amounted to 13 people. Meanwhile, 6 people are still being searched by the joint SAR team.

"With this, 13 people died and there are still 6 people in the search according to the report we have received at this time. If there are 8 survivors," he explained.
