Russia Launches High-Speed Missile Missile Ship, Equipped With Uran-E Missile System

JAKARTA - The Vympel Shipyard (United Shipbuilding Corporation) launched the Project 12418 Molniya high-speed missile ship for the Russian Navy last July.

"Today is a tremendous event for us: the launch of each ship is very important to shipbuilders. In this case, it is a high-speed missile ship, which also has artillery armaments," Russian President Nikolay Patrushev said at the launch. August 20.

The new missile ship will join the Russian Navy to ensure the security of Russia's borders, he added.

Citing Naval, the ship will join Brigade 106 of surface ships, part of the Russian Navy's Kaspia Fleet.

The upgraded missile ship with factory No. 01301 will be named Stupinets in honor of the City of Stupino in the Moscow Region. The class high-speed ship Mollya Project 12418 is designed to destroy the surface ship, ship, and its own enemy carrier and in interaction with attack naval forces.

The Mollya ship is equipped with advanced navigation and communication equipment as well as weapons. The shipbuilder has changed the layout of the Molniya ship and increased its durability.

The main weapon of this ship is the Uran-E missile system equipped with an antiship missile with a firing range of up to 260 kilometers, as well as two supporting weapons systems, AK-176MA-01 caliber 76.2mm and AK-630M caliber 30mm, quoted from Rosoboronexport.

The ship is also equipped with two different radars to detect enemies from the air and sea level up to 450 kilometers.

Meanwhile, Yaroslavl Regional Governor Mikhail Yevrayev thanked the staff of the Vympel Shipyard and other regional shipbuilding companies for their hard work.

"Today we are launching a new ship and, of course, it is a huge achievement, especially for staff working in our region in the shipbuilding industry. We have more than 2,500 people working in this industry. It is very important for us that all of our companies working in the shipbuilding industry develop, receive orders, and stand firmly with one leg in the defense and other legs in civilian product production," said the governor.

During his visit to the Vympel Shipyard, Patrushev checked his capacity and production as well as ships built by another shipyard in the Yaroslavl Region.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring import substitution, achieving higher labor productivity, and introducing digital technology into the production process.

It is known that the Vympel shipyard specializes in the construction of next-generation missile ships and patrols, high-speed search and rescue vessels, hydrography surveys and other special destinations for military and civilian customers. The ships built by the Vympel Shipyard operate in all Russian Navy Fleet. The Shipyard also has experience building ships for countries in Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East.
