PSI Ensures Kaesang Will Not Advance In The 2024 Pilkada

PSI Secretary General Raja Juli Antoni, confirmed that the General Chairperson of Kaesang Pangarep will not advance in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. Although later the results of consultations and the DPR will open up opportunities to annul the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the age threshold for regional head candidates.

"As a friend who interacts with Mas Kaesang almost every day, the General Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), I know exactly that Mas Kaesang is very obedient to the constitution," Raja Juli told reporters, Saturday, August 24.

Raja Juli emphasized that Kaesang also did not conduct a judicial review to the Supreme Court (MA). He said that President Jokowi's youngest son had no intention of advancing in the 2024 Pilkada, both in Jakarta and in Central Java as rumors circulated.

"I need to explain the internal dynamics of PSI. From the start, Mas Kaesang was not interested in advancing in the 2024 Pilkada," said Raja Juli.

"Mas Kaesang actually prefers to concentrate on doing business and taking care of his family, especially because his first child will soon be born and accompany his wife, Mbak Erina Gudono, who goes to school at one of the best US campuses," continued the Deputy Minister of ATR.

Raja Juli admitted that PSI had indeed urged Kaesang to take space to be involved in the 2024 Pilkada. However, Kaesang has not yet decided whether to accept being nominated as a Central Java cawagub or not.

"At the same time, communication with KIM Plus continues and until it almost narrows down on Mas Kaesang's candidacy to become Cawagub in Central Java. Several parties such as NasDem have declared it. Even though it is not 100 percent certain," explained Raja Juli.

As for the news that Kaesang took care of making the SKCK, Raja Juli claimed it was based on PSI's initiative and was linked to the Constitutional Court's decision.

"The important point is that the management of these requirements is carried out before the Constitutional Court's decision. All administrative processes are terminated after the Constitutional Court's decision. PSI obeys the constitution and fully follows the Constitutional Court's decision," he concluded.
