Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya denied any intimidation ahead of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Congress in Bali on August 24, 2024.

It is known that Barisan Ansor Multipurpose (Banser) and the Nahdlatul Ulama Pencak Silat Association Pagar Nusa also held a Loyalty Apple in Bali on August 21, 2024.

Gus Yahya in a press statement at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, August 22, said the activity was not on the initiative of PBNU.

"No, this is their initiative," said Gus Yahya as quoted by ANTARA.

He admitted that he had not received a report on the activity. Gus Yahya only knows that currently the General Chairperson of the Central Executive of the Ansor Youth Movement Addin Jauharudin is at the Vatican.

Addin together with the general chairmen of cross-religious youth organizations, namely PP Pemuda Muhammadiyah, Pemuda Catholic, Peradah Indonesia, and GAMKI met with Pope Francis to deliver the Jakarta-Vatikan Declaration at Paul VI Audience Hall, Vatican.

"I haven't received a report yet. What I hear now is that the General Chairperson of Ansor is at the Vatican, just on his way home. Later he said maybe in the afternoon or evening he had arrived. I have sent a message to meet me immediately to report," said Gus Yahya.

To note, Addin said the Ceremony of Loyalty was to strengthen the ranks of the younger generation of NU, especially in the transition year of Indonesian government so that the process went safely.

The ceremony, which was held in Padanggalak, Denpasar, was also to celebrate the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

He emphasized that the Loyalty Apple was not at all related to the PKB Congress which happened to be held in Bali at the same time.

"This Appel of loyalty has nothing to do with any practical political agenda, including PKB. The call to the two NU autonomous bodies is deemed necessary and necessary because in 2024 it is a very important year for the younger generation to be involved in building a strong foundation towards Indonesia Gold 2045," said Addin.
