Israel Bombs Hezbollah's Arms Warehouse In Lebanese Bekaa Valley

JAKARTA - The Israeli military bombed Hezbollah's weapons storage facility in Lebanese Bekaa Valley. Two people were reported dead.

The airstrike came hours after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said attacking an ammunition warehouse in Lebanon was preparation for anything that might happen.

There has been no direct confirmation from security sources in Lebanon about the arsenal being targeted by the attack on Tuesday, August 20 evening.

The source said the attack took place in a residential area near the eastern city of 47bek in Bekaa Valley, an area largely inhabited by Shia Muslims who are a source of Hezbollah support.

As reported by Reuters on Wednesday, August 21, Israeli airstrikes left two people dead and 19 injured, according to security sources, but it is not yet clear whether those killed were civilians or fighters.

Israel has routinely attacked Hezbollah fighters and rocket launch sites in southern Lebanon.

About 622 people in Lebanon have died since the start of clashes in October 2023, including 416 Hezbollah fighters and 132 civilians.

The targeting of the arsenal has increased recently.

On Saturday, the Israeli military said it was targeting a arsenal used by Hezbollah militants in airstrikes.

Lebanese news agency said 10 Syrians, including two children, were killed in this incident.

Another air strike on Monday night hit Hezbollah's gun depot in the Beqaa region, which borders Syria.

In July, Israel bombed another warehouse storing Hezbollah ammunition in the southern Lebanese city of Adlorun, three security sources told Reuters.
