Knock! KPU Jakarta Passes Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardhana As An Independent Candidate In The DKI Gubernatorial Election

JAKARTA - The pair for the candidate for governor and future deputy governor candidate (readgub-bacawagub) from the individual route alias independent Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardhana (Dharma-Kun) were declared eligible for support to run in the 2024 Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor Election (Pilgub).

This was confirmed in the plenary meeting of the General Election Commission (KPU) of Jakarta Province, Monday, August 19 evening.

"We make sure that at 23.25 WIB, we issue a decree from the DKI Jakarta KPU regarding the fulfillment of the terms of support for individual candidate pairs," said Chairman of the DKI Jakarta KPU Wahyu Dinata in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 20.

Wahyu said that the agenda on Monday is the single agenda, namely the report on the fulfillment of support requirements for individual or independent Dharma-Kun candidates.

However, Wahyu continued, due to the dynamics that have occurred recently related to the Population Identification Number (NIK) of residents who feel painted, the plenary meeting opens a room for improvement.

"Today's agenda reports fulfill the requirements for support for single candidates. But because we accommodate the dynamics that occur, there will be changes in the minutes," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Technical Division of the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU), Dody Wijaya, said that there was a reduction in support for 403 candidates who did not meet the requirements (TMS).

"We reduced 403 support, because it did not meet the requirements. So now the total support for individual candidate pairs is 677,065 from the previous 677,468," he said.

This number can still be a condition for candidacy in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Pilkada, so that individual candidate pairs have met the requirements to register.

There will be an individual candidate pair in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, Dharma Pongrekun and Kun Wardana, attending a plenary meeting to determine the individual candidate pair at the DKI Jakarta General Election Commission (KPU) on Monday.

Dharma arrived at the DKI KPU at around 15.50 WIB and was accompanied by a number of sympathizers who had been waiting for the arrival of the prospective governor candidate from the individual or independent route.

When asked about his belief in qualifying for the DKI Regional Head Election, Dharma Pongrekun handed everything over to God because he could only try.

"I leave it to God. It's not a matter of confidence, but I believe in God," said Dharma Pongrekun when asked before entering the plenary meeting room at the DKI Jakarta KPU.
