Suddenly Becomes A Cawagub Of Jakarta, Suswono: If Assigned, PKS Cadres Must Be Ready

JAKARTA - PKS senior politician Suswono opened his voice about his suddenly elected candidacy as a candidate for deputy governor of Jakarta to accompany Ridwan Kamil. According to him, PKS cadres must be ready if assigned to run for Pilkada by the party.

"My position is assigned. If you are assigned as a cadre, you must be ready to move forward," said Suswono after being declared a cawagub at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Monday, August 19.

Regarding the considerations of PKS who assigned him after previously appointing the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council, Sohibul Iman, Suswono was reluctant to comment.

"Well, considering what background and so on, of course please confirm it with the DPP," he said.

The former Minister of Agriculture under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also did not want to comment on the possibility of fighting an empty box in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada. Even though there is currently a candidate pair from an independent route, Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana in the Jakarta gubernatorial election.

"Wow, I don't know, I don't know anything. My clear position is now being told to go forward and participate in the contest, yes, I will certainly fully support the governor candidate for how we both can win this contest," he said.

Meanwhile, regarding PKS' communication with Anies Baswedan after carrying out a lot of activities in the Jakarta Pilkada, Suswono said it was still well established.

"Of course it's good, keep in touch. I'm sure the DPP will communicate, and if I was assigned it would have been communicated," he concluded.
