Good Behavior During Detention Period, Jessica Wongso Receives Remission 58 Months 38 Days

The defendant in the murder case of Wayan Mirna Salihin, Jessica Kumala Wongso, entered the room to undergo a trial with the agenda of reading the verdict at the Central Jakarta District Court, Jakarta, Thursday (27/10/2016) (ANTARA).

JAKARTA - Jessica Kumala Wongso, convicted of cyanide coffee murder, finally breathed conditional free air from the Pondok Bambu Women's Correctional Institution (LP), East Jakarta, Sunday, August 18 morning.

Head of the Public Relations Working Group of the Directorate General of PAS, Deddy Eduar Eka Saputra, assessed that Jessica Wongso behaved well while serving as a prisoner at the Class IIA Jakarta Women's Correctional Institution.

"During his sentence, he has behaved well based on the inmate's coaching assessment system with a total of 58 months and 30 days of remission," said Eduar in his official statement.

As a conditionally free convict, Jessica is still required to report and undergo guidance until 2032.

"Inmates on behalf of Jessica Kumala Wongso get parole (PB) based on the Decree of the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) RI Number: PAS-1703.PK.05.09 of 2024," said Eduar.

The granting of conditional exemption rights to Jessica is in accordance with Menkumham Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Second Amendment to the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 3 of 2018 concerning Terms and Procedures for Granting Remissions, Assimilation, Leave for Visiting Families, Conditional Release, Leave Ahead of Release, and Conditional Leave.

Meanwhile, Jessica Otto Hasibuan's attorney welcomed Jessica's acquittal.

"Today Jessica is entering a new chapter in her life. Yes, after 8 years in prison, my client was released and we as attorneys are happy with this freedom. We are only looking for a little justice," he told the media crew at the East Jakarta District Attorney's Office, Sunday, August 18.

Jessica was taken to the District Prosecutor's Office for signature. From there Jessica went to the Fathers to sign the handover to her parents and lawyers.

Previously, Jessica was found guilty of murder of Wayan Mirna Salihin on January 6, 2016. Mirna died after drinking Vietnamese coffee ice ordered by Jessica at Olivier Cafe, Grand Indonesia, Jakarta.
