Head of the Presidential Secretariat (Kasetpres) Heru Budi Hartono ensured that the women's Heritage Flag Raising Troops (Paskibraka) who will carry out their duties during the 79th Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at IKN will continue to wear the headscarf for those who previously wear headscarves.
This was in response to the national Paskibraka who was asked not to wear the headscarf during the inauguration at the State Palace of IKN on Tuesday, August 13 yesterday.
"When they entered the Palace (during the inauguration), they were like that. However, our order was to ask all younger women who really used the headscarf to keep using it," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, August 14.
Heru admitted that the Palace did not know before that there was a briefing from the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) to remove the headscarf on 18 of the women's Paskibraka.
The palace has also coordinated with BPIP to allow the wearing of the headscarf again. Dozens of women's Paskibraka have also returned to wearing the headscarf during rehearsal 2 this morning.
"This means that both at the central level, tomorrow, the 17th will raise the flag, we will continue to use it as a place for our brothers and sisters to register using the headscarf. If it is not regulated, it is okay," explained Heru.
Previously, Purna Paskibraka Indonesia (PPI) rejected a policy that allegedly prohibited the use of the hijab for members of the women's Paskibraka at the inauguration ceremony in 2024.

PPI General Chairperson Gouta Feriza previously said that the rejection of the alleged ban on wearing the hijab was carried out because it was against the values of Pancasila, especially the precepts of God Almighty.
He explained that the women's Paskibraka members came from various ethnicities, cultures, and religions. During the training process, they are allowed to wear the hijab according to their respective beliefs. However, at the time of inauguration they were forced to release the hijab.
In previous years, Paskibraka members were allowed to wear the hijab in the inauguration and flag-raising ceremonies on August 17.
However, BPIP decided to uniform Paskibraka's clothing and appearance in 2024, as stated in the Circular of Deputy for Training Number 1 of 2024.
In the circular, there is no choice to dress hijab for Paskibraka members who use the hijab.
Meanwhile, Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Yudian Wahyudi explained that the release of the hijab of a number of members of the 2024 Heritage Flag Raising Troops (Paskibraka) aims to raise the values of uniformity in raising the flag.
"Because from the beginning Paskibraka was a uniform," said Yudian when giving a press statement at the National Police Residential, the capital city of Nusantara, East Kalimantan, Wednesday, August 14.
