Former Acting Head Of ESDM Babel Became A New Suspect In A Tin Case

JAKARTA - Jampidsus investigators at the Attorney General's Office have named the former Acting Head of the Bangka Belitung Province Energy and Mineral Resources Service with the initials SPT as a new suspect in the alleged corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading in the PT Timah Tbk IUP area. 2015 2022.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Harli Siregar, revealed that SPT served as Acting Head of the Bangka Belitung ESDM Agency for the period January to June 2020.

The determination of one suspect began when investigators examined three witnesses with the initials HS, ASQ, and SPT.

During the examination, he continued, investigators found sufficient preliminary evidence related to SPT's involvement in the case.

"So that after the case is carried out, the investigator has determined to determine the SPT as a suspect," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 13.

The involvement of SPT in this case is to carry out a dispute with PT Timah Tbk. to approve RKAB (Business Plan and Budget) even though it is not in accordance with the provisions.

Not only that, but the SPT also deliberately did not carry out its duties, namely coaching and supervision of the RKAB, and did not evaluate and supervise the holders of the IUJP (Mining Services Business Permit) in 2020.

"Seharusnya sebagai Plt. Kepala Dinas, SPT melakukan evaluasi atau tidak menyetujui RKAB itu, tapi dia melakukannya," ucapnya.

The articles suspected of SPT are Article 2 Paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

In the next stage, investigators will detain SPT at the Salemba Detention Center at the Attorney General's Office for the next 20 days starting from August 13, 2024 to September 1, 2024.

With the appointment of SPT as a new suspect, the total number of suspects in the case is 23 suspects, including one suspect in the obstruction of justice case.

In addition, the examination of three new witnesses today also increased the number of witnesses who had been examined by investigators, namely 195 witnesses.

Previously, three former Head of ESDM Bangka Belitung had also been named suspects and were charged with corruption in the management of tin commodity trading in the PT Timah Tbk IUP area. 2015 2022, causing a loss to state finances worth Rp300 trillion.

The three defendants are the Head of the ESDM Office of Bangka Belitung Province for the 2015'2019 period, Suranto Wibowo, the Head of the ESDM Office of Bangka Belitung Province for the 2021'2024 period Amir Syahbana, and the Acting Head of Energy and Mineral Resources for the Province of Bangka Belitung for the period March to December 2019 Rusbani alias Bani.
