The Joint SAR team searched for five victims of the collapsed bridge in Lalan Musi Banyuasin (Muba) sub-district, Palembang, South Sumatra (Sumsel), which was missing. Sementara itu, Aparat Kepolisian Daerah Sumatera Selatan sedang mendalami penyebab Jembatan Lalan Musi Banyuasin yang roboh karena ditabrak tongkang pengangkut batu bara itu."Ya semalam sekitar pukul 21:30 WIB, kejadiannya jembatan di Desa Sukajadi P6 Kecamatan Lalan itu ditabrak ponton batu bara, sehingga roboh. Kemudian untuk penyebabnya kenapa bisa menabrak, masih kami dalami," kata Kabid Humas Polda Sumsel Kombes Pol Sunarto.Ia menambahkan, sejak malam kejadian itu, personel Polair dan dari Polsek Lalan sudah berada di lokasi untuk melakukan penanganan peristiwa.Kasi Humas Polres Muba Kompol Susianto menambahkan bahwa kapal tongkang tersebut tidak tenggelam dan sudah dilakukan pengamanan untuk dilakukan pendalaman.
