Admits Will Follow PKS If You Withdraw Support To Anies In The Jakarta Gubernatorial Election, PKB: There Are Not Many Seats

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP National Awakening Party (PKB) Ahmad Iman Sukri admitted that his party would follow PKS's steps if later officially withdraw support for Anies Baswedan to be carried in the Jakarta gubernatorial election. PKS did start giving signals that it would leave Anies.

In the nomination of the candidates for Governor-Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, 22 seats for the DKI Jakarta DPRD are needed from political parties (political parties) or coalition associations. Meanwhile, the PKB seat is not enough to carry Anies alone or join NasDem if he does not withdraw support for Anies.

"So if PKS doesn't go to Anies, automatically PKB can't (pronounce) because PKS is the winner, right. PKB seats 10, less," said Iman at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Monday, August 12.

Iman also talked about the opportunity to form a coalition with the PDI-P (PDIP) in the Jakarta gubernatorial election to carry Anies. So far, PKB has not had any agreement with PDIP regarding the regional election coalition in Jakarta.

Therefore, even though the supporting seats are sufficient if they form a coalition with PDIP, Iman emphasized that it is not certain that PKB will carry Anies. Moreover, according to him, PKB and PDIP are more focused on designing a coalition for the East Java gubernatorial election.

"The ones that are a bit stronger are actually in East Java, PDIP and PKB, if the gubernatorial election. If it's in Jakarta, yes, interpret it yourself," said Iman.

Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary General of PKB Syaiful Huda also spoke about the opportunity to leave Anies in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada.

According to him, all possibilities are open, including changing the direction of support from Anies to other candidates. Bearing in mind, until now PKB has not officially provided a recommendation for Anies to run for the gubernatorial election.

"That's what I call dynamic. PKS, which has been cooking, is still extraordinary, especially PKB, which has not yet been installed. So, we'll see, it only takes a few days. The dynamics is happening in KIM, and it also happens in blocks outside of KIM," explained Huda.

PKS spokesman M. Kholid some time ago said that his party had instructed Anies to attract other political parties to form a coalition by carrying out PKS-choice governors, namely Anies in pairs with the Deputy Chairperson of the PKS Syuro Council Sohibul Iman.

However, the deadline for Anies to seek additional support is 40 days, namely since June 25 the declaration of the Anies-Sohibul pair. Because the August 4 deadline has been passed, PKS has begun to open communication with all parties so that there is certainty that PKS can participate in the 2024 Jakarta Pilkada, including KIM Plus.

"One of the communication options is to also build political communication with KIM where RK is their definitive candidate at this time. This option is being studied and discussed by the PKS DPP," explained Kholid.
