Construction Of Phase One Of The Vice Presidential Palace At IKN Targeted To Be Completed In 2025

JAKARTA - Phase one development of the vice president's palace (wapres) in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN), the new capital city of Indonesia located in Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim), is targeted for completion in 2025.

The construction of the vice president's palace, said Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono, is an important milestone in the journey of IKN, the new capital city of Indonesia named the city of Nusantara.

The start of the construction of the vice president's palace, said Basuki Hadimuljono, who also serves as Acting Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (OIKN), is getting closer to the City of the Archipelago as an efficient and sustainable center of government according to the nation's great ideals.

"The construction of the vice president's palace is carried out in two stages," said Director General of Human Settlements of the Ministry of PUPR Diana Kusumastuti as reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 12.

The construction of the first phase of the vice president's palace consists of palaces, offices, residences, and other supports, he said, which is targeted for completion in August 2025.

"The construction of stage one is very crucial, because it becomes the foundation for the next stage of the construction of the vice president's palace," he said.

After the completion of the first phase of the vice presidential palace, the Ministry of PUPR again conducted a project auction for the construction of the second phase of the vice president's palace.

The construction of the vice president's palace emphasized the government's commitment to make the city of the archipelago a center of government that does not only function as an administrative center.

"But also as an example of modern, smart, and sustainable urban development," he said.

The building of the vice president's palace with the concept of "huma betang umai" ( dayak language) means a large house, according to him again, to provide common space and provide a role to protect like a mother

Combined with tropical, performing and regenerative concepts, the vice president's palace is capable of becoming an environmentally friendly and carbon-efficient building, said Diana Kusumastuti.
