TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati Kaltara) is investigating alleged corruption in the provision of credit facilities worth Rp596 billion to the palm oil plantation company PT Sebaung Sawit Plantation (SSP) in Nunukan Regency.

The investigation into this case has been ongoing since April 2026. To date, the Special Criminal Investigation Team of the North Sumatra Regional Attorney General's Office has examined at least 30 witnesses to investigate alleged irregularities in the credit granting process.

Assistant Special Criminal Action of the North Sumatra Regional Attorney's Office, Samiaji Zakaria, said that the credit facility was provided between 2017 and 2025 with an estimated value of IDR 596 billion.

"The investigation of the case has begun since April 2026. The Special Criminal Investigation Team of the North Sumatra Regional Attorney General's Office has examined at least 30 witnesses to uncover alleged irregularities in the credit granting process," said Samiaji, Wednesday (24/6/2026).

According to Samiaji, the witnesses who have been examined come from various parties. Starting from the management of PT SSP as the recipient of the loan, the Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) as the lender, the cooperative unit business (KSU) or plasma, to the Public Appraisal Service Office (KJPP).

From the results of the preliminary investigation, the investigation team found indications of suspected corruption which could potentially cause financial losses to the state.

"The investigation team has found indications of suspected corruption that could potentially harm state finances in the provision of credit facilities. We continue to investigate how the credit facility mechanism was given until how this credit facility was carried out," said Samiaji.

Currently, investigators are still tracing all stages of credit granting. Starting from the application process, business feasibility analysis, collateral assessment, credit approval, to the use of funds by the company.

The Attorney General's Office of North Sumatra has not revealed the exact value of the state's losses in the case. Investigators have also not determined which parties will be held accountable.

However, the investigation process continues with the collection of evidence and deepening the role of all parties involved in the provision and utilization of the credit facility.

"Investigators are still continuing to investigate the statements of the parties and clarifying the construction of the case to determine whether or not there is an element of corruption in the process of providing this credit facility," said Samiaji.
