Airlangga Hartarto Withdraws From The Position Of Chairman Of The Golkar Party?

Airlangga Hartarto asked the public to wait for official information from the party regarding the news of resigning from his position as chairman of the Golkar Party.

"We are waiting for the official," said Deputy General Chairperson (Waketum) of the Golkar Party DPP Dito Ariotedjo, quoting Antara, Sunday, August 11.

According to Dito, if it is true that Airlangga resigned, it is possible because he wants to focus on the government.

"Maybe because it will focus on government and future challenges related to the national and global economy will be more and more complex," said Dito.

Airlangga Hartarto, who is currently the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has served as General Chair of the Golkar Party DPP from 2019 for a term of office of 5 years until 2024.

He also on several occasions announced his intention to re-election as general chairman at the Golkar Party National Conference (Munas) in December 2024.

However, if he resigns from his position, then the Golkar Party can hold extraordinary national deliberations, which can be held ahead of the munas schedule.

So far, no Golkar official has confirmed Airlangga's resignation.
