JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirms that the bank guarantee payment system in the case of alleged bribery for the export of fries or lobster seeds is categorized as a criminal act of corruption. This is because this system has no legal basis.

"In the clause of the exporter's statement, that this item does not exist (legal regulations, red), finally (waiting, red) a new presidential regulation. He (an exporter, red) is ready to voluntarily provide grants to the state, ”said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Karyoto, in a press conference broadcast on the KPK RI YouTube account, Wednesday, March 24.

"This means that legally it is not allowed. "There must be rules first, then there are levies," he added.

Furthermore, even if the Rp52.3 billion was for PNPB, Karyoto said, this money could not go to the state treasury. This is because there is no binding regulation so that the government can disburse the money there.

"So this was confiscated and then confiscated to the state," he said.

It was reported earlier that on Monday, March 15, KPK investigators confiscated Rp52.3 billion of money suspected of being collateral in a bank guarantee. In addition, the KPK has examined a number of witnesses including the Inspector General of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Muhammad Yusuf on Wednesday, March 17, regarding this matter.

After being investigated, he said that the Rp53.2 billion in cash confiscated from the Bank Guarantee was not related to the alleged bribery for the export of lobster fries or seeds. In addition, he also said that the money suspected by the KPK was related to fry bribery did not violate the law.

"Nothing has been violated," Yusuf told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, South Jakarta.

Yusuf claims the KKP has not used the money in the Bank Guarantee. The reason was, at that time, the KPK immediately arrested Edhy Prabowo and his men after a trip from Hawaii, United States.

"Please understand that the Bank Guarantee is not yet under the rights of the KKP. It is not yet the right of anyone. There is still an open right to the Bank Guarantee. That's the story," he said.
