After Being Stopped Due To The Pandemic, The DKI Provincial Government Continues Its 7-location Sidewalk Revitalization

JAKARTA - DKI Provincial Government will continue to revitalize sidewalks in seven areas in Jakarta this year. This program is a continuation of the sidewalk revitalization that was carried out the previous year, but was stopped due to the pandemic.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Highways Agency, Hari Nugroho, said that the construction of accessible sidewalks is included in the goal of sustainable urban infrastructure development.

Hari said that Jakarta as a modern city must meet several criteria. The main criterion that must be met is to provide facilities for pedestrians.

"When we talk about modern cities, the first thing we prioritize is pedestrians or increasing conservation," Hari told reporters, Wednesday, March 24.

According to him, the determination of the location of this pedestrian construction is determined from a number of criteria. The main criteria are accessibility and mobility of the movement of people.

"The second criterion is integration between transportation modes, the third is area activity, and the fourth is road space in the planning," he said.

Even so, achieving the sidewalk construction target in 2020-2021 is constrained by costs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he did not disclose how much budget was needed.

"Indeed, this is because a lot of funds have been allocated to handling COVID-19. Looking at the financial condition, we will build it through other funds," he said.

The seven locations to be built for conservation are as follows:

1. Kebayoran Baru area, Jalan Senopati, Jalan Suryo and Jalan Wolter Mongonsidi, South Jakarta

2. Jalan Duri Kosambi Raya, West Jakarta

3. Jalan Tebet Raya, South Jakarta

4. Jalan Raden Saleh, Central Jakarta

5. Puri area, West Jakarta

6. Jalan Layur, East Jakarta

7. The area around the Jakarta International Stadium, North Jakarta
