PDIP Affirms Megawati-Jokowi's Relationship Is No Problem: Chairman Of The BPIP Steering Committee With The President Must Be Good

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto emphasized that Megawati Soekarnoputri's 5th Presidential relationship with President Joko Widodo had no problems.

According to him, Megawati's relationship with her position as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) with Jokowi as the head of state must be good.

"So, the relationship between Mrs. Megawati Soekarnoputri, at that time she was in the capacity as Chair of the BPIP Steering Committee, and the President of the Republic of Indonesia, yes, it must be good," said Hasto at the National Gallery, Central Jakarta, August 8.

"Yes, the context is that relations between state institutions must prioritize good relations," continued Hasto.

Previously, Megawati also mentioned that her relationship with Jokowi was in good condition. He said this while attending the handover of duplicate heirloom flags to all regional heads throughout Indonesia.

"Earlier before I came here, who was there, I didn't know to talk, what was his name, saying he said I wasn't with the President. Well, it's good for him to say that. I'm fine with the President. Why?" said Megawati, Monday, August 5th.

Megawati said that she was said to have had a bad relationship with Jokowi because of the issue of extending the presidential term and the discourse of a three-term president.

Megawati emphasized that this context is a constitutional area.

"Just because I was said, because I didn't want to ask for 3 terms or because I said I didn't want an extension. I know the law, how come, which legal expert raises his hand? That's the domain of the constitution," said the PDIP General Chair.
