Russian Bombing Hits Schoolyard In Ukraine's Sumy, 2 People Died

JAKARTA - A Russian guided bomb hit the schoolyard in Sumy, Ukraine, which borders Kursk, Russia. Two people including a 6-year-old boy were killed.

Moscow previously accused the Ukrainian military of launching a armored attack on the Kursk region. Russia says it continues to repulse Kyiv troops.

said the area had been hit by unprecedented airstrikes.

"The Sumy region has never known the number of bombs this much every day," he added.

He said there were 56 guided bombs brought down by Russia in the past 24 hours.

It was previously reported that two people were also killed in an attack by Russian troops on the city of Kostitynivka in the Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine.

Local governor Vadym Filashkin reported the attack hit residential districts in the city on Thursday, August 8 morning, reported by Reuters.

The Ukrainian-controlled Donetsk region is often the target of Russian attacks and airstrikes. Russian troops control most of the region, which Moscow claims along with four other Ukrainian territories as its own territory.
