JAKARTA - Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana said the railless autonomous train is sought to become a mode of transportation for ministers who will attend the plenary cabinet meeting in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

"Yes, we will try because we will first check the route from the Nusantara Hotel, the movement from the Nusantara Hotel to the Garuda Palace, we will first check the route," Yusuf said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Thursday, August 8, which was confiscated by Antara.

It is known that the ministers are scheduled to arrive in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) on Sunday (11 August) and will then stay at the Nusantara IKN Hotel, before attending the plenary cabinet session on Monday 12 August.

Yusuf said his party would arrange the transportation of the ministers during the plenary cabinet session so that it would run in an orderly manner and also not interfere with the ongoing IKN development process.

"What is certain is that since Balikpapan, we will try to regulate the transportation of ministers from Balikpapan, including the movement from the Nusantara Hotel to the Garuda Palace so that it can run in an orderly manner and also do not interfere with the ongoing development process. This means that not too many vehicles are expected to enter the capital city of the archipelago because it is still in the construction process," he said.

For information, the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) stated that the trial of the autonomous train or autonomous rail transit (ART) at IKN on a short route is scheduled to be carried out on August 10, 2024.

"If it goes well, we are targeting ART to be tested dynamically (moving) on the short route (smallloop) on August 10, 2024," said Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation Risal Wasal confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 6.

To support this trial, Risal said that the DJKA ranks are currently conducting internal testing on ART facilities, infrastructure, and human resources (HR) in the IKN area, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.

"This internal testing is expected to be completed by August 9, 2024," he said.
