Alleged JI Terrorist Network In Tangerang Played Role As Fundraiser

JAKARTA - The National Police said that a suspected terrorist who was arrested at the Islamic Village Housing, Tangerang acted as a fundraiser. In addition, the suspected terrorist was part of the Jaamah Islamiyah (JI) network.

"(The suspect) AM is on duty as a fundraiser", said Head of Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas), Police Public Relations Division, General Rusdi Hartono to reporters, Wednesday, March 24.

In this terrorist network, said Rusdi, the role of fundraiser does not mean looking for financial support for acts of terror. Instead, train other terrorist suspects in entrepreneurship.

With the hope, the businesses of the members of the JI network can grow. That way the money that is given for acts of terror is getting bigger.

"Of course, it will provide greater infaq (charity) value that is included in the JI organization's finances. Of course, when the finances get bigger, this is part of how JI can maintain and maintain the existence of the organization", said Rusdi.

As previously reported, Densus 88 Anti-terror arrested a suspected terrorist with the initials AM in the Islamic Village Housing area, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency, Banten, this morning.

Meanwhile, in North Sumatra, Densus 88 arrested 18 suspected terrorists and 31 charity boxes.
