Densus 88 Seizes Airsoft Gun To Explosive Chemicals From Arrest Of Two ISIS Supporters

JAKARTA - The National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested two supporters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in the West Jakarta area. From the arrest, a number of pieces of evidence were confiscated, including an airsoft gun to chemicals.

"The evidence that we managed to secure was an airsoft gun, then an ISIS object, several ISIS jackets or uniforms, several folding knives," said Densus 88 Anti-terror Police Spokesperson Kombes Aswin Siregar to reporters, Wednesday, August 7.

"Then there are explosives, chemicals are explosives, a gadget or HP unit and several other sharp weapons," he continued.

The confiscated explosives and chemicals, said Aswin, will be assembled by the suspect as a bomb.

However, it is not certain whether the explosives will be used later by them in the suicide bombing or by the 'penantin'.

It is known that the bride is a term used by terrorist groups for potential suicide bombers.

"It will indeed be assembled into explosives. But we have not come to the conclusion that it will be used alone or look for a replacement for others," he said.

On the other hand, Aswin said that the two suspects often uploaded ISIS propaganda narratives through their social media accounts.

"The person concerned raised the ISIS flag while holding a gun accompanied by a statement or invitation to support the existence of Daulah Islamiyah or ISIS," said Aswin.
