JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said the inauguration of the elected governor and deputy governor is planned to be held on February 7, 2025.

"As for the regents and mayors because they were appointed by the governor who had just been inaugurated on February 7, they will be sworn in on February 10, 2025," Tito said when met at the office of the Ministry of Politics, Law and Security, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 6, confiscated by Antara.

Tito explained that this could happen if no party filed a dispute over the General Election Results (PHPU) dispute with the Constitutional Court (MK).

If one of the candidate pairs is involved in the PHPU lawsuit at the Constitutional Court, then the candidate pair must resolve the dispute before being inaugurated.

Tito continued, the planned date for the inauguration of the regional head was discussed in a meeting between the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs and the Chairman of the KPU which was held at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs office today.

He explained that this meeting discussed the revision of Presidential Decree No. 16 of 2016 concerning the inauguration of regional heads. This Presidential Regulation was revised to adjust to the decision of the Supreme Court (MA) regarding the age limit for regional head candidates when inaugurated.

In addition, this revision was also carried out on the basis of the KPU's request to set a date for the inauguration of regional heads.

Tito continued, the revision of the presidential regulation regulates the voting date for the regional elections to be held on November 27, 2024. After that, the KPUD was required to recapitulate the votes until December 16, 2024.

After the recapitulation results are complete, the KPUD must determine who the selected pair is based on the results of the vote.

"After the recapitulation of the vote after that, determine the candidate pair, later there will be a lawsuit usually in the Constitutional Court," said Tito.

If there is no dispute in the Constitutional Court, then Tito can confirm the inauguration of governors, deputy governors and mayors and regents according to the predetermined schedule.

Tito continued, his party will complete the draft revision of the Presidential Decree as soon as possible.

"Yes, we submitted the initiative permit (to the president) yesterday, then there will also be an answer letter from the president through the Minister of State Secretary after that we harmonized it. We have compiled the draft and that is a revision of the old draft," said Tito.
