Lebanon Receives Medical Aid To Anticipate Israeli Attacks, Foreigners Lift Their Suitcases

JAKARTA - Lebanon received emergency medical supplies to complete its hospital if there is a possibility of injury due to war.

Meanwhile Beirut airport is filled with people who will leave the country amid fears of a massive conflict imminent.

Tensions in the region escalated in the past week after the assassination of Palestinian militant group leader Hamas in Tehran, and an Israeli attack on the outskirts of Beirut that killed a main commander of the Hezbollah armed group in Lebanon.

Hezbollah and Iran have vowed to retaliate against Israel for the killings, sparking fears that various fronts fighting alongside the Gaza War could escalate into a major regional war.

Hospitals in southern Lebanon, where most of the conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli military has occurred, have been damaged by the economic crisis that has been going on for years and has struggled to deal with injured patients over the past 10 months.

On Monday, August 5, the World Health Organization delivered 32 tons of medical supplies to the Lebanese health ministry, including at least 1,000 trauma equipment to treat possible injuries from the war.

"The goal is to distribute these supplies and medicines to various hospitals and health sectors in Lebanon, especially in the most vulnerable places (to hostilities) so we are ready to face any emergency," Health Minister Firass Abiad told reporters on the airport runway where aid arrived.

In the airport departure room, Lebanese families who came to their homeland in the summer lined up for check-in on departure flights. They are sad because they have to leave earlier than expected.

Countries including France, Britain, Italy, Turkey and other countries have urged their citizens to leave Lebanon as long as commercial flights remain available.

"It's really sad, O God, the situation is really sad. We get out of the crisis, we go into another crisis," said Sherin In fact, a Lebanese living in Italy who came to Lebanon to visit his mother and daughter.
