40 Houses In Jatinegara Burned, Allegedly Due To Gas Cylinder Explosion

JAKARTA - A total of 40 houses on Jalan kemuning Dam, Jatinegara, East Jakarta experienced a fire. The cause is suspected to be an explosion of gas cylinders.

Head of Operations for the East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Abdul Wahid, said the incident was received on Sunday, November 24, at 10.03 WIB.

"It's true (as many as) 40 semi-permanent houses caught fire. The cause was due to an explosion of gas cylinders," Wahid said when confirmed, Sunday, November 24.

Wahid explained that the incident began when an explosion of gas cylinders occurred in one of the residents' houses, resulting in a fire. Shortly thereafter, the fire spread to another building so that finally the number affected was 40 houses.

On that basis, 16 units and 90 personnel were deployed. The goal is to speed up the fire extinguishing.

"The blackout started at 10.10 WIB and finished at 12.40 WIB," he said.

He ensured that there were no casualties in the incident. However, the loss is estimated at IDR 1.4 billion.

"Losses of IDR 1.4 billion," he concluded.
