BNPB Will Build Offices And Wisma At IKN

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) will soon build offices and guesthouses in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN). This was conveyed by the Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. Suharyanto while inspecting the location, Saturday, August 3, 2024.

"We see a candidate for the BNPB office. Land already exists. This is a good atmosphere. Hopefully soon we can wake up and move here. That way disaster management in all parts of Indonesia can be carried out from this place as the center of government," said Suharyanto as quoted by ANTARA, August 4.

The existence of BNPB offices in the IKN region will certainly provide full support to maintain resilience in the field of disaster. Not only in the IKN area, the presence of BNPB at the heart of Indonesia will also strengthen the nation's resilience as the center for disaster management with a main focus on reducing disaster risk, as directed by President Joko Widodo to always maximize prevention efforts.

"Later this will become the center for disaster management in the country, from sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island we can handle it even better," said Suharyanto.

The BNPB office in the IKN area will later have a land area of approximately 1.5 hectares. On the left side of the BNPB office, the Basarnas building will be established and on the right side is the Tourism Ministry office. The construction of a new BNPB office will later carry the concept of an IKN that is environmentally friendly and friendly to nature.

"We will follow the IKN concept. Hopefully this can be more friendly to nature. We will design a natural friendly office," said Suharyanto.

Suharyanto's presence in the IKN area is of course also to ensure that rainfall redistribution efforts using the weather modification technology (TMC) method run as expected so that the IKN development can be completed according to the targeted time.

On the other hand, BNPB has also coordinated with the Nusantara Capital Authority to carry out contingency plans in anticipation of potential wet hydrometeorological disasters such as floods to landslides. BNPB has submitted the concept of a disaster risk study which will then be noticed as an effort to reduce disaster risk.

"We also continue to coordinate with the IKN Authority to be prepared to deal with the potential for wet hydrometeorological disasters," explained Suharyanto.

The TMC operation for the East Kalimantan region has started since July 15, 2024, until today with a total of 119 flight sorties with a total material of 111 tons of NaCl and 8 tons of CaO.

This rainfall redistribution effort is carried out with a maximum scheme. The seeding of NaCl and CaO materials is carried out from morning to sometimes into night using two aircraft flown from APT Pranoto Airport in Samarinda.

In addition to reducing the potential risk of wet hydrometeorological disasters, TMC operations in East Kalimantan were also carried out as a form of reducing the risk of dry hydrometeorological disasters such as forest and land fires and drought.
