JAKARTA - First Lady Olena Zelenska said deliveries of Turkish-made Class Ada corvette type warships would ensure the security of Ukraine's territory while attending the launch of the Hetmen corvette Ivan Vyhovskyi (F-212) this week.
"We understand the importance of security more than anyone else. This corvette will ensure the security of the region with us, the sea with our countries. We are not only defending ourselves but also the principle of peaceful coexistence for everyone. So, this ship is the next step on this route, "said first lady Olena Zelenska, launching the Ukrainian presidential website on August 3.
The launch, which took place on Thursday at the Turkish shipyard, was attended by Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
It said the presence of this ship would increase Ukraine's ability to protect its national interests not only in the Black Sea and Azov Sea but also in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
The wife of the President of Ukraine also visited the first corvette built in Turkey, "Hetman Ivan Mazepa (F-211)," who is currently undergoing sea trials.
On that occasion, the First Lady of Ukraine also met with the crew and gave a painting by Natalia Pavlusenko entitled "Hetman Ivan Mazepa."
"Hopefully the courage and heroism of Hetman Ivan Mazepa inspires you to defend our homeland, and may his soul protect and protect you," said First Lady Olena Zelenska.
