Topan Gaemi Kills 30 People In China, Dozens Lost

JAKARTA - The powerful Typhoon of Gaemi or Carina killed 30 people in Hunan, China, and 35 others missing, China Central Television (CCTV).

Roads, electricity and communications have been restored in the worst-affected areas of Jixian Regency, according to CCTV reports.

Reported by ANTARA from Sputnik-OANA, Thursday, August 1, search and rescue operations continue.

The continuous rain hit South Asia and Southeast Asia at the start of the muson season, causing floods and landslides that claimed many lives and damaged buildings and agricultural land.

In Kerala Province, India, 170 people were killed by landslides.

Meanwhile in the Philippines, Typhoon Carina killed 39 people, while more than 108,000 people are still displaced due to severe flooding, according to media reports.
