JAKARTA - The 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla (JK) will attend the funeral of the leader of the Palestinian fighter group, Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.

JK accompanied by the Minister of Law and Human Rights for the period 2004-2007 Hamid Awaluddin left for Doha, Qatar, from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten on Thursday 1 August.

In a written statement, JK said the presence of the Indonesian delegation at Haniyeh's funeral was the hope of the Palestinian people.

"This fulfills the hope that we send the Indonesian delegation there and we are invited to attend the funeral of the late Ismail Haniyeh," said JK, quoted by Antara.

A joint prayer for Ismail Haniyeh's funeral was held in Tehran, Iran, on Thursday, August 1 morning local time.

On the same day, the body of the head of the Hamas political bureau will be brought to Doha after being converted.

The funeral prayer for Haniyeh will be held at the Imam Muhammad Ibb Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Doha, after the Friday 2 August prayer.

Furthermore, Haniyeh will be buried in Lusail, Qatar.
