JAKARTA - The Cipinang Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas) conducted a surprise inspection (Sidak) of a number of residential blocks for correctional inmates (WBP) or inmates on Thursday, August 1, noon.

The inspection was carried out randomly to conduct raids on prohibited items belonging to prisoners in residential blocks.

From these activities, officers managed to find a number of prohibited items hidden by the inmates.

"These items include cell phone casings, charger cables, as well as several sharp modified objects from a tablespoon that can endanger security and order inside," said Head of Cipinang Class I Prison, Prayer Manik when confirmed, Thursday, August 1.

Manik also instructed all his staff to take firm action against all violations found during the raid.

"Ramps, confiscated and recorded all prohibited items found in the Hunian Block. If an officer is found to help inmates smuggle these items, I will impose disciplinary punishment," he said.

Joint officers consisting of various units at the Class I Cipinang Prison (Business Planning Section, Security and Order Administration, Development Sector, Work Activities, and Prison Security Unit) conduct a thorough examination of each residential block.

Officers used sophisticated detection tools to ensure no prohibited items were missed.

"This activity is a strategic step to ensure that the prison environment remains safe and conducive, and supports the creation of advanced correctional communities," he told reporters.

Furthermore, Manik explained, this raid is part of the implementation of three keys for advanced correctional and back to basics, namely early detection, active role in eradicating drug trafficking, and synergy with other law enforcement officers.

"This is a form of early detection that we did to prevent violations in prisons," he said.
