JAKARTA - The drone attack targeted the eastern Sudanese military base during the visit of military commander General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
The attack raises doubts over recent attempts to end a 15-month civil war armed conflict.
The military said the attack took place at a graduation ceremony at the Gibet military base, about 100 km (62 miles) from the de facto army capital, Port Sudan in the state of the Red Sea, Sudan. Five people were reported killed.
The drone strike is the latest in a series of attacks on army locations in recent months, and is closest to Port Sudan.
Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, rivals to the army in the war, have not yet claimed responsibility.

The attack came a day after the military-backed foreign ministry accepted US invitations to hold talks in Switzerland in August.
RSF responded to the ministry's statement saying it would only negotiate with the army and not with Islamist groups who are mostly civil servants.
