Former BNPB Sestasman Harmensyah Was Questioned By The KPK Regarding Funds Ready To Use PPE Procurement

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has examined two witnesses related to allegations of corruption in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is the former Sestaman BNPB for the 2019-2020 period Harmensyah.

"The examination was carried out at the KPK's Red and White Building on behalf of HM, Sestaman BNPB in 2019-2020," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika to reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, July 31.

From the examination, continued Tessa, investigators explored a number of things. One of them relates to his role as the power user of the budget.

"It is explored the role of the person concerned as a KPA of ready-to-use funds in BNPB," he said.

In addition, investigators also examined another witness, Agus Subarkah (US), who is an entrepreneur. He was investigated about the purchase of assets that Tessa did not specify.

Previously reported, the KPK named three suspects in the corruption case in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) at the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). The investigation has been carried out since September 2023.

The amount of state losses in this case reached Rp300 billion with a project value of Rp3.03 trillion for the procurement of 5 million PPE packages.

A total of eight people have been prevented from leaving the country. They are Budi Badhi as the state civil apparatus (ASN) at the Ministry of Health, Hermansyah who is an ASN from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Satrio Wibowo and Ahmad Taufik as private sector, and A. Isdar Yusuf as advocates.

Furthermore, last June also prevented SLN, which is a doctor and two private parties, namely ET and AM.
