Hamas Values Haniyeh's Murder Was An Unsatisfied Manner, IRGC Holds Investigation

JAKARTA - The militant group Hamas has confirmed that it will not silence the attack that killed the head of the Political Office Ismail Haniyeh, in an attack in Tehran, Iran.

"The killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran is "a coward act that will not escape punishment," reports Hamas-run Al-Aqsa TV citing senior Hamas official Moussa Abu Marzouk.

Ismail Haniyeh is in Tehran, to take part in the inauguration of the elected president Masoud Pezeshkian by the Iranian Parliament.

"The Hamas Islamic Resistance Movement mourns the martyrdom of the children of the Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims, as well as all the independent people of the world," the group said in a statement.

"Furthermore announced, Haniyeh was martyred in Tehran after participating in the inauguration ceremony of Iran's new president due to the dangerous Zionist attack on his residence," the group continued.

Previously, Haniyeh reportedly met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He is not alone. The head of the pest political bureau was present with the Secretary General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad Nakhaleh.

Afterwards, Haniyeh reportedly met with Pezeshkian before the presidential inauguration was held on Tuesday afternoon in Tehran.

"The killings carried out by the Israeli colonialists against Brother Haniyeh are a major escalation aimed at breaking the wishes of our Hamas and the will of our people and achieving false goals," said senior Hamas official Sami Abu Zuhri.

"We emphasize that this escalation will fail to achieve its goals," he said.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) has confirmed that it will carry out an investigation into the attack that killed Haniyeh and a bodyguard.

"This morning, Ismail Haniyeh's residence in Tehran was attacked, resulting in him and one of his bodyguards being martyred. The cause is being investigated and will soon be announced," the Iranian Revolutionary Guard said.
