MERAUKE - The Merauke Navy Hospital (RS AL) provided clarification regarding the viral video on Facebook regarding a mother who was about to give birth died with her baby in the womb on Saturday, July 27, 2024.

The video narrated the death of the mother and baby as a result of the slow treatment from the hospital.

The head of the Merauke Navy Hospital, Lt. Col. Anggiat Purba, explained medically that the cause of the patient with the initials A was strongly suspected that a pulmonary platelet had clog the blood vessels for the lungs during childbirth. This condition makes the patient's lungs not functioning properly and there is a beating that leads to death.

There was no negligence in handling patients who died because the standards given had been carried out properly by medical personnel according to hospital protocols. After stating that his mother's life could not be saved, various efforts were made by medical personnel but the baby could not be helped and was declared dead in his mother's womb," Anggita said at a press conference, Monday, July 29.

Lt. Col. Anggita Purba said an incident like this was a lesson from the Merauke Navy Hospital so that in the future it is hoped that it can serve well.

Prior to the press conference, mediation had been carried out between the Merauke Navy Hospital and their families. Both parties understand each other's conditions.

"RSAL Merauke also condolences to the deceased because incidents like this are not expected by everyone," Anggita added.
