Masoud Pezeshkian Calls Government Cabinet Must Be A Manifestation Of Iran's National Unity

JAKARTA - Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian views national unity and consensus as the key to success in overcoming state problems.

"To achieve the goals that have been set, we must form a cabinet that is independent of faction divisions and is a manifestation of national unity and will lead us to a goal, which if we act in this way, we will succeed," Pezeshkian said in the cabinet's first meeting after his ratification as president by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei Sunday, reported by IRNA July 29.

He further called for moving according to the wishes and hopes of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

"To achieve the goals that have been set, we must form a cabinet that is independent of the categories of factions and is a manifestation of national unity, which will lead us to the goal that if we act in this way, we will be able to move in accordance with the wishes and expectations of the Great Leader of Revolution," he explained.

In his first interview after the ratification, Pezeshkian made solving economic problems a priority for the government.

He stated that his government will focus on handling economic problems and supporting domestic production, to solve people's financial problems.

So far, Pezeshkian has appointed Mohammad Reza Aref as First Vice President, and former education minister Mohsen Haji-Mirzaei as Presidential Chief of Staff.

Pezeshkian is scheduled to be officially sworn in as President of Iran on Tuesday before parliament.
