Plenary Meeting, PBNU Issues Ban On NU Featured Contributions For Organizational Activities

JAKARTA - The Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board prohibits all NU administrators from collecting contributions from the community to finance organizational activities. This is one of the plenary meeting decisions.

"PBNU stipulates a prohibition on all NU management structures to quote contributions from residents used to finance organizational activities. All quotes or donations from residents must be returned directly to residents in the form of alms, infaq or zakat through the Amil Zakat Infaq Sadaqah Nahdlatul Ulama Institute (Laziznu)," said PBNU Chairman Yahya Cholil Staquf in a press conference after a plenary meeting in Jakarta, Sunday, July 28, which was confiscated by Antara.

He asked the management not to quote contributions for organizational activities, for example for the construction of office buildings and holding events.

The plenary meeting also decided on a ban on providing honorarium in any form to PBNU officers who were sent to carry out organizational duties.

The General Chairperson of PBNU emphasized that all financing for the assignment of these officers will be borne by PBNU and administrators in the regions are prohibited from giving anything to them.

The ban is included in the part of the results of the plenary meeting which aims to improve PBNU's performance. He said the meeting also resulted in other rules.

Some of the agreements produced include guidelines for organizing organizations, regulations on guidelines for organizing conferences or forums. There are also rules for procedures for the inauguration of management, guidelines for prohibiting concurrent positions, regulations related to travel assistance for assignments and guidelines for business cooperation.

The plenary meeting also formulated a strategic plan for NU until 2027, which will be described in the provincial, district/city and village strategic plans as well as the NU autonomous body.

He also said the plenary meeting decided on NU's digital transformation strategy with a form of merger in one digital platform to support organizational organization.

There is also a decision plan to form NU's national leadership academy for cadres, an order to examine the historical narrative books of NU's founding in schools under NU so as not to deviate from those set and the rules regarding the rector's term in higher education.

"This must be corrected and I think it is the obligation of PBNU to straighten this out and if it is found that these materials are then brought into the NU educational institution, they must be revoked, withdrawn," he explained.

Also discussed in the plenary meeting the development of the relationship between NU and PKB. Yahya Cholil Staquf said NU was not only exclusive to being identified with PKB, considering that many of its members were also part of other parties.
