58 People Become Suspects In The Cockfighting Gambling Case In Bekasi

JAKARTA - The police arrested dozens of people during a raid on the practice of cockfighting gambling in Jatiasih, Bekasi. Of the dozens of people, 58 of them were named suspects.

"There are 58 people who have been named as suspects in the crime of cockfighting gambling," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Thursday, July 25.

From the results of the examination, investigators decided that only 20 suspects were detained. However, it was not explained in detail about the reasons behind it.

Only conveyed about the detention of a person is the investigator's authority which is based on subjective and objective reasons.

For the rest of the suspects who were not detained, said Ade, they must undergo compulsory reporting. So, investigators can know their whereabouts.

"The 38 people were not detained but were subject to mandatory reporting twice a week," said Ade.

In this gambling case, all suspects were charged with Article 303 of the Criminal Code. They face a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison.

The raid on the practice of cockfighting gambling was carried out on Sunday, July 21. A total of 70 perpetrators were arrested.
