JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Water Resources Service (SDA) Ika Agustin admitted that the construction of a coastal embankment on the coast of Jakarta in the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) project was slow.
Ika was forced to stall the completion target from what had been set previously. Now, the DKI Provincial Government is targeting the 18-kilometer coastal embankment to be completed by 2028.
"NCICD, with a smooth time line record and no problems related to the procurement of goods and services, based on activities that have been carried out in 2023, we will finish in 2028 for the authority (development) of DKI approximately 18 kilometers. This is with a note on time," said Ika in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 24.
However, Ika did not deny that the construction of the coastal embankment had not been completed in 2028. This is because, this year, construction work has stalled due to the management of the project's cultivator contract.
"In 2024, we have delayed. Why? Because it was only a contract about a month ago. So, there were a number of months that we were a bit delayed in the development of NCICD," said Ika.
If so, it is possible that the coastal embankment as a safety limit for this tidal tide will only be established in 2029. However, at least, according to Ika, the central government is still targeting the DKI Provincial Government to move the coastal embankment for the next 6 years.
"The worst thing is, we will withdraw until 2029. However, based on the target between DKI and the PUPR Ministry, we are still given until 2030," said Ika.
Overall, the NCICD poyek is divided into three phases, namely phases A, B, and C. Phase A includes the construction of a coastal embankment that serves to prevent tidal flooding north of Jakarta. Meanwhile, phases B and C include the construction of a sea embankment or what is known as Giant Sea Wall.
