Prabowo Targets 70,000 Schools to be Repaired This Year, 100,000 Next Year

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto targets more than 70,000 schools to be repaired by the end of this year. Next year, the number is targeted to increase to 100,000 schools.

Prabowo conveyed the target when attending the 50th anniversary of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia as well as the launch of 10 books at the Jakarta Theater, Friday, August 7.

"We have repaired tens of thousands of schools. By the end of this year, maybe more than 70 thousand. Next year, our target is 100 thousand," said Prabowo.

He said the program would continue until all schools in Indonesia had improvements.

"And we will finish it in the next three years. All schools in Indonesia will be improved," he said.

Prabowo did not specify the number of schools that had been completed, the budget prepared, or the type of damage that was a priority.

In his remarks, Prabowo also touched on the condition of health centers. He said that health facilities that have not been repaired for decades will also be included in the government's improvement program.

"All Indonesian health centers that have not been repaired for more than 30 years, we will repair them," he said.

According to Prabowo, the improvement of schools and health facilities is part of the government's work that must be felt directly by the community.

He said the government wanted to move quickly when it found basic needs that had not been met in the area.

Prabowo also previously touched on the development of village bridges. According to Prabowo, the government has approached the construction of 2,500 bridges in various villages.

He said the government did not want to just debate who should be responsible if people's basic needs were not met.

"Finish today," said Prabowo.

Prabowo emphasized that the government would intervene if the local government was unable to respond to the urgent needs of the community.
