JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirms that its investigation is free from political influence and only targets individuals suspected of harming the state. It does not view their political affiliation. "We would like to convey that there are no specific political motives or parties that are our targets. Our focus is on actions carried out by individuals suspected of being active in harming the state," said KPK Spokesperson, Tessa Mahardika confirmed, Monday, July 22. Tessa also explained that summons and examinations of a number of parties were carried out because investigators had strong reasons that the parties had information relevant to the ongoing legal process. These summons and examinations were carried out while still upholding the principle of justice. "Investigators have evidence and information from other witnesses. So, this is not about targeting certain parties," he explained. Previously, on Wednesday last week, the KPK announced the start of investigations into the alleged three corruption crimes within the Semarang City Government (Pemkot). KPK investigators have named several parties as suspects in this case, although their identities have not been officially announced. Along with the announcement, the KPK investigating team also conducted searches related to the handling of the three alleged corruption cases.
