JAKARTA - Israeli fighter jets attacked a Houthi military target in the Hodeidah port area in Yemen on Saturday, July 20.
The attack came a day after a drone launched by an Iranian-backed group hit Israel's Tel Aviv economic center.
At least 80 people were injured, most of whom suffered severe burns, in airstrikes targeting oil and power generation facilities in Hodeidah, Al-Masirah TV, a major television news outlet run by Yemen's Houthis movement, citing a statement from the health ministry.
Residents of Hodeidah told Reuters by telephone the explosion was heard across the city during the intensive bombing.
Meanwhile, Al-Masirah TV reported that civilian defense forces and firefighters were trying to extinguish the fire in the port's oil tank.
An Israeli military spokesman said the port had been used by the Houthis to receive arms shipments from Iran.
Its targets, which are more than 1,700 km (1,056 miles) from Israel, cover locations with multiple use such as energy infrastructure, he said.

Israel had notified its allies before the attack, which the military said was carried out by Israeli F-15 fighters and all returned safely.
Responding to this attack, Houthi's Highest Political Council said there would be an "effective response" to Israeli airstrikes.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree also said the Houthis "would not hesitate to strike important Israeli enemy targets."
The attack on Yemen, which Israeli officials say comes after more than 200 Houthi attacks on Israel, underscores concerns that Gaza's war, sparked by Hamas-led attacks on Israel on October 7, could develop into a regional conflict.
