Golkar Politicians Ask Amien Rais Not To Disturb Jokowi Through 3 Periods Issue, That's Counterproductive

JAKARTA - Golkar Party politician Ahmad Doli Kurnia assessed that President Joko Widodo does not have the 'political desire' to extend his term of office as President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Even before Amien Rais raised the issue of three presidential terms, said Doli, Jokowi had repeatedly emphasized that there was no intention of going forward again in the 2024 presidential election.

"Even before the presidential election (he) said that. If anything, it means slapping him, taking him down, apple-polishing. That was a long statement before Amien Rais raised this issue again," said Doli in a virtual discussion on the Trijaya Polemic entitled Mystery 2024, Saturday, March 20.

Doli emphasized that Jokowi has consistently stated that he is a president who abides by the constitution.

"Therefore, we should no longer bother with counterproductive issues with the constitution and government programs," he said.

Asked about Jokowi's decision regarding the presidential election in 2024, Doli believes that the former governor of DKI Jakarta has unanimously stated that he has no intention. Moreover, he has confirmed his statement many times.

"I think from Mr. Jokowi it is final. Just one delivery is already final, let alone delivered up to two times," concluded the chairman of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR).
