JAKARTA - A man was arrested after his 8-week-old baby died when he was left in a hot car in New Jersey, United States.

Authorities in Lakewood Township responded to reports of a baby having a heart attack, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office said. The 8-week-old baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reported by ABC News, Wednesday, July 17, the baby was left alone in his father's car for a long time, which was confirmed to be the cause of his death, prosecutors said in a statement.

The heat index jumped to 107 degrees Fahrenheit or 41 degrees Celsius in Lakewood Township on Monday.

The baby's father, Avraham Chairovsky, 28, was charged with endangering the safety of a child, prosecutors said.

The investigation is ongoing and there will likely be more charges, prosecutors said.

11 children have died in hot cars across the US so far this year, according to national nonprofit Kids AndCars.org.
