Arrested And Persecuted By Balinese Klungkung Police Officers, Victims Report To Propam

JAKARTA - Kubu I Wayan Suparta complained to the National Police Propam regarding alleged violations of procedures behind the confinement and abuse cases carried out by 10 members of the Klungkung Police, Bali.

In the complaint, the Klungkung Police allegedly violated the rules from the arrest process to torture.

"Pak I Wayan Suparta reported the alleged torture committed by 10 members of the Klungkung Bali Police which occurred from May 26 to 28, 2024," said attorney I Wayan Suparta, Muhammad Yahya Ihyaroza to reporters, Wednesday, July 17.

The first violation occurred during the arrest process of I Wayan Suparta. Where, the Klungkung Police are claimed to have no assignment letter.

Then, the violation was related to the confiscation of five vehicles belonging to I Wayan Suparta. Yahya said that investigators did not have a confiscation permit from the local court.

"However, in the process of confiscation the goods were also not accompanied by a permit by the local court. So we saw that there had been a violation of the Criminal Procedure Code regarding or procedures for confiscation of evidence," he said.

Not only that, I Wayan Suparta also complained about the torture he experienced during the arrest process.

As a result of the abuse carried out by members of the Klungkung Police, I Wayan Suparta suffered a wound so that one of his ears was permanently damaged.

"Especially in the arrest process, our client received an act of torture which caused him to be injured. Then also the eardrum of the victim's left ear was permanently damaged," he said.

However, the complaint has not been officially received. This is because the National Police Propam requested that several documents be completed first.

"Currently, our report has sent the letter to Propam. However, our report is temporarily detained because it must complete several documents that they need to study," said Yahya.

Previously, 10 police officers suspected of molesting and detaining a resident with the initials IWS (47) were questioned by the Bali Police Propam.

The examination was to determine whether there was a violation of procedures during the process of investigating the fraudulent vehicle case in Klungkung Regency, Bali.

Apart from being questioned by Propam, the 10 members of the Klungkung Police will be questioned by investigators from the Bali Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) regarding the alleged criminal act in the incident.
