Kremlin Confirms Russia Is Reluctant To Interfer US Domestic Affairs, But Monitors The Developments That Occur

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia had never interfered and had no intention of interfering in the domestic political process of the United States (US), but continued to monitor the latest developments there as well as other countries in the world.

The comment was made by Dmitry Peskov on Zvezda TV channel Tuesday.

"We have never interfered and will not interfere with internal political processes in the United States. Another thing is, we, like the rest of the world, closely monitor what is happening there because this is the country with the largest economy in the world and the country with the strongest military spending a lot of money, even more than all other countries put together, for the Department of Defense," Peskov said., reported TASS July 16.

"And, of course, when violence occurs during the election campaign in the country, it comes to the whole world's attention, including us," Peskov said, referring to the shooting of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The former president survived a shooting while campaigning in Pennsylvania last Saturday, despite injuries. One of the campaign visitors was killed, while the shooter also died at the hands of officers.

Previously, Peskov stressed that Moscow was reluctant to comment on the issue of the United States presidential election which will be held next November, following the shooting of Donald Trump on Saturday, insisting Russia condemned the incident.

Saying Russia condemns all violence in politics, he stressed Russia's reluctance to interfere in Washington's domestic affairs.

"We will not judge. We do not want to interfere in the slightest, because this is an internal US problem," he told reporters.
