JAKARTA - With white bandages on his ear injured by gunshots in attempted murder, Donald Trump stole the show when he made his public appearance for the first time since the shooting on the opening night of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

As discussed by CNN, Trump along with the man he selected a few hours earlier as his vice presidential partner, Ohio Senator JD Vance on Monday, July 16 evening.

The audience shouted "fight" at Trump with a bloody face several times, brandishing his boxing into the air, as the Secret Service secured him from the stage in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday last weekend.

It was an unforgettable moment on the day when the Republican delegation officially nominated Trump for a third consecutive presidential election, confirmed Vance as his partner, and opened a four-day convention aimed at supporting Trump's next term and opposing President Joe Biden's re-elect.

Instead of choosing his partner before Republicans gather in Milwaukee, Trump wants a surprise element at this year's convention and he gets it, keeping the guessing game alive until Monday afternoon.

Trump called Vance 20 minutes before he announced he had opted for an Ohio senator at Truth Social, sources familiar with the process told CNN.

The two met at a Trump club in Mar-a-Lago on Saturday, before a rally where Trump was shot in the ear.

The choice reflects Trump Vance's belief is an effective communicator who can sell Trump's populist agenda especially to working-class voters in states such as Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, where presidential elections can be decided in thousands of votes.

"He is consistent with Trump's call for male and female workers," Ohio Governor Mike DeWine said of Vance.

"Also, someone who has the same desire to expand the base of the Republican Party," he added.
