KPK Regarding Gazalba Saleh Denies Receiving Money At Trial: Defendant Has Ingkar Rights

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) emphasized that each defendant may defend himself or have the right to deny witness testimony at trial. Gazalba Saleh's inactive Supreme Court Judge who is currently being tried is related to allegations of gratification and money laundering.

"For the defendant GS, of course, he has the right to defend himself, the right to deny," said KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardika at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 16.

Tessa said Gazalba could not just be prosecuted. Later, the prosecutor will reveal evidence before the Panel of Judges at the Corruption Court.

"In this case, the KPK public prosecutor is tasked with presenting evidence as facts of the trial which will later strengthen the judge's confidence in deciding," said a spokesman with an investigator background.

"So what the defendant GS said is certainly the right of the person concerned," continued Tessa.

As previously reported, the inactive Supreme Court Justice Gazalba Saleh was charged with lawyers Ahmad Riyad and is said to have received Rp650 million from Javahirul Fuad, who is an entrepreneur. The award relates to the case management of cassation number: 3679 K/PID.SUS-LH/2022.
