Gibran Submitted A Letter Of Resignation To The Surakarta City DPRD

Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka officially submitted a letter of resignation from his position to the leadership of the Surakarta City DPRD.

"Today we are delivering a letter of resignation to the Chairman of the Surakarta City DPRD, then to be processed according to the existing mechanism," he said after submitting his resignation letter at the Surakarta City DPRD office, Central Java, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 15.

Asked about the reason for the resignation, he said that one of them was to prepare for the inauguration of the Elected President and Vice President on October 20, 2024.

"In addition to preparing for the inauguration on October 20, of course there are many things that must be prepared now. I ask for prayers so that everything can be carried out," he said.

He also thanked the mass media for accompanying the government program in the last three years.

"Thank you for being a good friend of mine, reporting positive things for the development of Solo City. Please say goodbye if something goes wrong," he said.

Asked about his activities before moving to Jakarta, he admitted that he would clean up Loji Gandrung's official residence and his office at the Surakarta City Hall Complex.

"The deputy mayor will occupy it later. In essence, I have submitted the resignation letter, the chairman of the DPRD will follow up, then to the province, then to the Ministry of Home Affairs," he said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Surakarta City DPRD, Budi Prasetyo, said that the letter would be discussed and reviewed with other leaders.

"Then we will see according to the rules. Later we will take steps to schedule it at the deliberation agency. The schedule for this month has been scheduled, later if there is a plenary resignation, of course, we will adjust the schedule for this month," he said.

Regarding the approval, it will be produced at a plenary meeting. Furthermore, the file will be sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs through the Central Java Provincial Government.

"From the Ministry of Home Affairs, a decree will be issued for the dismissal and appointment of the deputy mayor as Plt. We will also convey that in the plenary session," he said.
