JAKARTA - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said President Prabowo Subianto would soon inaugurate the village electricity program in 1,400 locations that had been completed by 2025 before August 14, 2026.
Bahlil said the plan for the inauguration was discussed in a limited meeting with President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, today.
According to him, the village electricity program is part of the government's efforts to expand access to electricity to areas that have not had access to electricity.
"Alhamdulillah in 2025 the program will be completed for about 1,400 (villages) more, which will be inaugurated by the President," said Bahlil as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 28.
He explained, Indonesia still has around 11 thousand villages that have not enjoyed access to electricity.
Of this amount, more than 1,400 villages that are the target of the 2025 program have been completed and are ready to be operated.
Regarding funding issues, Bahlil ensured that there were no budgetary constraints for the village electricity program.
He emphasized that the project to be inaugurated by President Prabowo was a 2025 program whose entire work had been completed.
"Regarding the village electricity budget, what we are doing is a 2025 program. The work has been completed, so we no longer talk about the budget because it is about to be inaugurated," he said.
Bahlil added that the government had also prepared a budget to continue the village electricity program in 2026 and 2027, so the current focus was on implementation in the field.
"The 2026-2027 budget is also there. So, there is no issue regarding the budget, now it's just implementation. I repeat, what I reported earlier that will be inaugurated is the 2025 program that has been completed," he said.
